According to the Coriolis force, which way would water flow directly on the equator?
It does not affect the rotation of the water, despite many peoples belief to the contrary, the actual forces are as a result of friction, and the structure of the plughole, if you actually travel to the equator, or the southern hemisphere, you will find it does not make a bit of difference to water flow at all, and will flow in either rotation of the two rotations, in my house it actually goes down, (in the kitchen), clockwise, in the bathroom, (sink) it flows counterclockwise, and in the bath it goes straight down the plughole, from the side nearest the taps, what is fascinating about this, is the fact that it will operate a cyclone, if the bath is over 6 inches in depth, and you can see the effect of cavitation, in a mini water "tornado", that forms in the water, but under 6 inches, it disappears, completely, the tornado comes and goes and changes direction when it disappears, and returns, it can wreck a tug boat, by the way, and even a battleship, the ducks do not seem to be affected, though have a happy experience trying this some time, it is best tried with warm water, not hot or very cold
