Have i done the rite thing?

my little girls dads access has been stopped...he saw her on a regular basis at 1st,then started just coming and goin,with mths inbetween..i went through 2 years of hell with it....i went to the solicitors and he wanted once a mth access...then still didnt stick 2 that...so i have now put a stop 2 it altogether.said he could still go to court and sort this out... but he didnt want too. have i done the rite thing? will my daughter understand?
