I am looking at a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro 6 cyl. VW Pat?

It has 130,000 miles on it which is a lot, but they are going to give it to me for 3 grand. Am I going to put my mechanic's daughter through Harvard, or are the A4s generally pretty good reliably? I know that they share many parts with the Pat, which I also don't know a whole lot about. It appears to have been well maintained over the years, very clean, runs beautifully.
